August 18 2014

Hello dearest family and friends!

Has it really been another week? Time is just flying by! What a whirl
wind of a week it has been!

Monday we ended our Pday 2 hours early, because we had so many
appointments! Things are so fast passed here. The highlight of our
night was meeting with Sister Mundy. She is a less active lady in our
ward. She is trying to put her life in order and come back to church.
She has so many questions about the gospel and is like a sponge. Ready
to learn  anything and everything. She told us that when she saw us a
church the past Sunday she learned something that will forever change
her life. She saw us walk in to class just smiling. She told us that
when we were smiling she realized that God smiles on her when she is
doing all she can to be close to Him. She learned that from the way we
were smiling at her. I know that we, as missionaries and even as
members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, are here
to be representatives of Jesus Christ and help others feel of his
love. It is a very special privileged!

Tuesday I spent the day in the Samoan Ward here in Vegas on an
exchange with Sister Ena. These sisters cover the entire Vegas Valley!
We spent most of our time driving in the car to and from appointments.
I couldn't understand a lot of what the people were saying, but they
were all so kind and loving. I really enjoyed serving there. We met
with a kid named Edwin. He was Baptized in February but has since
stopped coming to church. We were able to help him work through some
of his concerns of coming back to church! He is a professional rugby
player and has really made an impact on others as he has taught them a
little about the church. Hopefully he will be back at church this
Sunday and every Sunday from now on!

Wednesday we had a meeting for all the Sister Training Leaders to
prepare for our Zone Conference Training  It was fun to see everyone!
However Sister Pence and I never knew about the meeting so we were
about 30 mins late and had to change some of our appointments! We met
with a lady named Angel, who requested a Book of Mormon and who is
dating a less active member of the church. She has had a very trying
life and is looking for peace and answers from learning about the
gospel! I know that as she reads the Book of Mormon she will find
that! We also met with Sister Mundy again and this time her son who is
not a member was there. He was in the other room when we got there. We
invited him to join us but he declined. However, by the end he was
asking us questions and wanted to set up a time to learn more! It was
a powerful experience!

Thursday we met with Sister Olive! She has had a lot of troubles in
her life and is working on being fully active again in the church. She
really is an amazing woman and has such great faith! I know that no
matter what we have been through or what choices we make we can all
come back and make things right! We have the Atonement of Christ for
that very reason!

Friday was my last Sister's Conference! It was so bitter-sweet! I
can't believe it was the last one. Sister Pence and I gave a training
on Obedience! We talked about all the things we choose to leave behind
to come on a mission. Then we read Matthew 4:19-20 "And he saith unto
them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. And they
straightway left their nets, and followed him." We compared the things
before our mission to the nets. We all had nets we left behind to
follow Christ and how we need to leave them in the past. We also
emphasized the importance of keep the commandments. 1. Love thy God 2.
Love thy neighbor as thyself 1.5 Love thyself
Everyone seemed to really enjoy it and learned a lot about what they
can do to love themselves and leave their nets behind.

Saturday was spent at the car shop getting work done on our car and
weekly planning. Not much else. Our set appointments all fell through.

Sunday we had six hours of church as usual! The best part was going to
the Why I Believe Fireside! I was able to see many people from my past
wards! It was so great to see Olivia, the Stubbs, and Gardners from
Boulder City! Lou also came and brought me a present! 2lbs of Sea's
Chocolate and a sweet card! He also told me that he took the next step
and received the Priesthood! He was so excited and so was I! He is
doing so great!

I am so grateful for the love I feel here in North Las Vegas! There is
so many great things happening in the mission and I know Heavenly
Father is truly guiding us to those who are prepared! Hope you feel is
hand guiding you as well this week! Thank you for your love and
prayers!

Love,
Sister Davis
